Infrared Sauna and Conventional Sauna Comparison

Far infrared saunas are an increasingly popular and new form of sauna option that uses the far infrared spectrum of light to create heat within the sauna gazebo. This variety of sauna units have a a handful of varied benefits over ordinary sauna units, as well as a few drawbacks. Far infrared saunas have been shown to the world on popular television talk shows such as Oprah, and utilize specialized panels, often made of carbon or ceramic, that emit far infrared waves which are transformed into heat directly by your skin when they make contact.

Just one of the numerous benefits of far infrared saunas is that they generally do not have large heaters such as that which the ordinary sauna units have. This results in, of course, conservation of precious space. Because the infrared sauna panels emit far infrared waves instead of the heating of dangerous red hot coils, these kinds of saunas are traditionally viewed as being a a safer kind of sauna. Perhaps this is the reason why you'll find more far infrared sauna units in men and women's homes here in the U.S. than the normal variety found in gyms.

Substantially less risk of fire means there is less of a need for Saunatonttu, a sauna-dwelling elf of legend which protects warns people in the event of a fire burning down the sauna.

A number of sources seem to make the suggestion that there is a number of beneficial health effects from far infrared saunas that do not actually exist in the other types, however many of these statements aren't supported by documented medical research. One benefit of the ordinary kind of sauna over the infrared is a greater intensity of heat in the sauna. Most far infrared sauna units do not get hot as fast as the ordinary variety of sauna. However, for the most part, most men and women believe the heat intensity of the infrared unit types are adequate for most purposes. However, if you enjoy your sauna sessions being a little more intense then perhaps the traditional variety of sauna is indeed the choice you should go with.

The last benefit (that we will mention) that the conventional kind of sauna possesses that the far infrared sauna does not is the ability to manufacture steam. Many people have become fond of and accustomed to the heaters that heat hot stones that allow a person to ladle room temperature water on to them to quickly increase the humidity of the surrounding air, as well as create the sensation of immediately raised sauna temperature. While for all intents and purposes this is a small difference, most of Finland, for example, has not embraced the infrared sauna units for this very reason.
